(Tense Narration)

The only thing he could hear was his own breath, heavy, and quick. His sharp breaths cut into his lungs as all he could feel was the hard snow beneath his feet. Then, pain. His leg coursing with agony as a branch grabs his foot, leaving him half buried in the snow. Then he hears something, or rather, nothing. Not a sound could be heard, not a branch in the woods. Even though a breeze could be felt, its sound escaped his ears. Something was here, he knew. Then, he looked up, seeing corpses hanging from the branches. Each one more rotted than the last, and some, still alive. The bodies seemed to breathe and move, struggling to get down, wanting to be freed from their impaled branches. He stares at the bodies as his face turns from shock to horror. Some of the bodies, look familiar.
